P365-Day36: Asan Barrage (आसन बैराज) , Dehradun

The Asan Barrage is a barrage in the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border region in Doon Valley, (Dehradun District), situated at the confluence of the Eastern Yamuna Canal and the Asan River. It is located  and about 28 km. northwest of Dehradun and 6 km from Paonta Sahib, Himachal Pradesh.





The dam creates the Asan Reservoir, also called Dhalipur Lake. The lake is popular for bird watching and 53 species are known to make a habitat there, 19 species are migratory from Eurasia.

The place is beautiful and a popular destination for picnic and other water sports. These pics were taken five years ago on 2nd October 2012.
