P365 - DAY247: Hogwarts in Uttarakhand..!?!

Looks can be definitely deceptive sometimes. This look alike Dreamland of some Hollywood fantasy movie set is actually Kamal Cottages Hotel and resort of Mussoorie, Uttarakhand. It is situated in Mussoorie-Dehradun road via Jharipani side, Just 10 kilometers from Mussoorie. One can see the beautiful Doon valley is in the backdrop and serpentine road makes the frame complete.

P365 - DAY246: Glimpse of Pahari culture

Pahari culture is full of color and vibrancy. One can witness the joyfulness, sweet and simple nature of people in the high lands of Uttarakhand. This is one of the many pictures which depicts the colorful life of native Uttarakhandi. You can find these paintings decorating the walls of major tourist destinations of Uttarakhand. I found this in Nainital.

I shoot this very unique tree near Sattal lake of Nainital district. The interesting trunk of this tree was very different as I was unable to decide whether it was four branches or four trunks of a single tree.

This picture was taken during monsoon of 2016. Patch of clouds are flowing above Jamrani Valley in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. During the time of rain, the Valley is filled with greenery and picturesque scenes.

P365 - DAY242: Chholiya (छोलिया)/chaliya(छलिया) Dance

It is a dance form practised in the Kumaun region of Uttarakhand. It is basically a sword dance accompanying a marriage procession but now it is performed on many auspicious occasions. It is especially popular in the districts of Pithoragarh, Champawat, Bageshwar and Almora of Kumaon division and has even spread to the Garhwal division. It has a history of more than a thousand years and is rooted in the martial traditions of the Kumauni Kshatriyas when marriages were performed at the point of the swords. It is also believed to be auspicious as it provides protection from evil spirits and demons. The turi (तुरी), nagphani (नागफनी) and ransing (रणसिंघ) dhol (ढोल), damau (दमाऊ) and Masakbeen(मसकबीन) or Bagpipe are traditional instrument played during the dance.

The setting Sun, fading winterline and...obstecal of electricity pole. The frame was something unusual but it lets me capture the photo with a difference.

This is a small rainy water stream in the hills of Garhwal. The water is very clean and crystal. During monsoon time, it is very common site to have water flowing through small streams and is indeed a very soothing experience.

When words are less and feelings are more...a flower can fill the gap. Roses are for love & warmth. This picture is all the love from Chopta, Rudraprayag which is caught on camera forever.

A windmill is a mill that converts the energy of wind into rotational energy by means of vanes called sails or blades. Earlier, windmills usually were used to mill grain, pump water or both. However, the majority of modern windmills take the form of wind turbines used to generate electricity (like this), or windpumps used to pump water, either for land drainage or to extract groundwater.

Notre-Dame de Paris meaning "Our Lady of Paris" also known as Notre-Dame, is a medieval Catholic cathedral of Paris, France. The cathedral is widely considered to be one of the finest examples of French Gothic architecture, and it is among the largest and best-known church buildings in the Catholic Church in the world. The naturalism of its sculptures and stained glass serve to contrast it with earlier Romanesque architecture. Its construction started in 1163 and was completed in 1345. The architectural marvel of this place is second to none.

It is a ruin in Germany and landmark of Heidelberg city. The castle ruins are among the most important Renaissance structures north of the Alps. The castle is located about 78 km south of Frankfurt. Heidelberg is the fifth-largest city in the German state of Baden-Württemberg and is also known as college city. The castle has only been partially rebuilt since its demolition in the 17th and 18th centuries. It is located 80 metres up the northern part of the Königstuhl hillside, and thereby dominates the view of the old downtown.

One can have this beautiful view while driving to Maldevta from Dehradun. Maldevta is situated near Raipur in Dehradun which is a great excursion point for adventure enthusiasts.

Nainital, the famous hill station is a very beautiful place and hot tourist destination. Naini Lake is the centre of attraction and it is surrounded by hills from all the side. Weather changes here quite rapidly and the lake is home to quite a veriety of fishes. Even, I was able to capture this beautiful golden fish near Naina Devi Mandir.

Though the domestic cat is the smallest animal of cat family but even it is quite imposing and scary one. This picture of a black cat was captured while she was eating biscuits and her eyes was very haunting.

Himalayan range is the longest mountain range of the world. It offers some breathtaking views of mighty snow clad mountains. This picture is one of such picture which admires the beauty of Himalaya. Taken a long back with my digital camera, it's Nanda Devi peak in front.

The Asan Barrage is a barrage in the Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border region in Doon Valley, (Dehradun District), northern India, situated at the confluence of the Eastern Yamuna Canal and the Asan River and about 10 km from Vikasnagar, Dehradun. The lush green trees along side  the barrage pathway provides a beautiful site and shade to the visiting tourists.

P365 - DAY223: Palatine Hill... Remains of ancient Rome

The Palatine Hill is the centremost of the Seven Hills of Rome and is one of the most ancient parts of the city. It is believed that Rome has its origins on the Palatine. It stands 40 metres above the Roman Forum. According to Roman mythology, it was the location of the cave where Romulus and Remus (founders of Rome) were found by the she-wolf that kept them alive.

This tree trunk has attracted my eyes and camera when I was roaming around Sat Tal Lake in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. The patterns are so Abstract yet beautiful that captured my senses instantly.

P365 - DAY220: The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel, Paris

It is the second most famous arch in Paris after Arch de Triomphe posted here in P365 - Day2). Both the Arc was designed in the same year in 1806. However, this Arc is about half the size of the Arch de Triomphe and was completed in 1806. It is located in the Place du Carrousel across the street from the Louvre Museum’s Pyramid.

P365 - DAY219: Burans...Rhododendron arboreum (बुरांश)

Burans...the state tree of Uttarakhand, National flower of Nepal and State flower of Himanchal pradesh & Nagaland, is an evergreen shrub or small tree with a showy display of bright red flowers. The flower blooms at early summer and these pictures were taken  a week ago near Bhimtal, Uttarakhand.
