P365 - DAY217: Random pics... flora and fauna

Nature always gives us something new and it's our duty to protect and preserve it for future. I took these two pictures randomly but they represent the beginning of a new life amidst the ever changing nature.

P365 - DAY216: Luxor Obelisk, Paris

It is a live example of quaite a remarkable sea transportation as the landmark of modern Paris was once transported all the way from ancient Egypt around 175 years ago. The Luxor Obelisk is a 23 metres high Ancient Egyptian obelisk standing at the centre of the Place de la Concorde in Paris, France. It is a yellow granite column of approx 250 metric tons and is over 3,000 years old.  The olelisk was originally situated outside of Luxor Temple, where its twin remains to this day. It first arrived in Paris on 21 December 1833, having been shipped from Luxor and was moved to its current location by King Louis-Phillipe on 25 October 1836. It was given to France by Muhammad Ali Pasha, Ruler of Ottoman Egypt. It is decorated with hieroglyphs exalting the reign of the king Ramsecs II.

Street photography is the widest form of photography where the objects of daily and routine life in and around us are the main focus. These pictures were taken in Europe and I did it in black and white mainly because I needed only  these two colours to capture the essence.

Walking on a beautiful & peaceful nature trail is the best experience one can possibly have. It keeps you engaged with its beautiful surroundings and makes you physically fit as well. Today's pictures are from a remote pathway in Nainital district of Uttarakhand.

P365 - DAY212: Explore the unknown - I

Well the true adventure is to do things which you never done before..to meet people whom you never met before and to go places you never visited before. Yesterday we went in one such adventure to an unknown and relatively untouched place which is located approximately 15 kilometers from Bhimtal in Bhimtal-Devidhura Road. It is a small stream of water flowing through the jungles of Dhari and Bhowali range.  It was a great outing and I will post more in this series in coming days.

6 years ago, I took my brand new KTM Duke to one of the historic and iconic buildings of country, the Forest Research Institute, Dehradun and it turned out a great combination of old and new. Not only this, the unexpected rain added to the photographic setup and I got some beautiful composition of the duo.

P365 - DAY210: Kaichi Mandir, Nainital

The Kainchi Dham ashram was built by baba Neem Karoli, also known as Neev Karoli Baba or Maharaj-Ji in 1964. Here he spent the last decade of his life. It was built with a Hanuman temple.  It started two years prior with a modest platform built for two local shadhus, Premi Baba and Sombari Maharaj to perform yagnas. Over the years the temple, situated 17 km from Nainital on the Nainital-Almora road The temple has become an important pilgrimage for everyone, especially on June 15 every year, when the Kainchi Dham fair takes place to commemorate the inauguration of the temple, when it is visited by over a lakh devotees.

Today I decided to post first installment of a few pictures of roads which passes through forest. The combination of trees and road offers a great landscaping composition. P365 - DAY207: Sub Framing...Sat Tal

This kayak was rowing in the still water of Lake Sattal when it caught my attention. The Sat Tal Lake is actually group of lakes in Nainital district of Uttarakhand. It is a very lush, green and bio diversified area.

P365 - DAY206: Arch of Constantine, Rome

It is a triumphal arch in Rome, situated between the Colosseum and the Palatine Hill. It was believed to erected by the Roman Senate to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge in 312. However, many believes that the construction began many years back. The arch with Colosseum in the right and Palatine hill on the far left It is the largest Roman triumphal arch. The arch is 21 m high, 25.9 m wide and 7.4 m deep. It has three archways, the central one being 11.5 m high and 6.5 m wide and the lateral archways 7.4 m by 3.4 m each. It has three archways and it is the last of the existing triumphal arches in Rome. Inscriptions and Sculpture in the attic. Details in the relief.

Well, I have captured Tehri Lake from various places and angles but this was my encounter with this enormous Lake. It was 5 years back when I first rode to thi Lake and admired the beauty of this place.

P365 - DAY204: Lambgaon, Tehri Garhwal

Lambgaon is a small town of Tehri Garhwal district in Uttarakhand. It is located approximately 100 kilometers from the district headquarters. The place was once a very important halt en route the Chaar-Dhaam pilgrimage but it was adversely effected after construction of Tehri Dam. Approach road to Lambgaon are very narrow and rough but the place got natural beauty. It is surrounded by pine forest and steep hills.

These two pictures are from different parts of Uttarakhand and through these, I wanted to dipect the different nature of roads. Be it straight or serpentine one thing which is common is that they takes us to our destination and wherever you go in our Uttarakhand, you will find greenery for sure. This picture of Song river (सौंग नदी) was taken near Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun. Song river is a tributary of River Ganges. It is one of the largest rivers that drain the Doon Valley.

P365 - DAY201: Neelkanth Mahadev Temple (नीलकंठ महादेव मंदिर)

The beautiful temple is dedicated to Nilkanth, an aspect of Lord Shiva. It is located about 32 km from Rishikesh in the Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, India. The temple is one of the most revered holy shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a prominent Hindu pilgrimage site. According to Hindu mythology, it is the place where Lord Shiva consumed the Halahal poison that originated from the sea when Devas (Gods) and Asuras (Demons) churned the ocean in order to obtain Amrita. This poison made his throat blue in color. Thus, Lord Shiva is also known as Neelkanth, literally meaning The Blue throated one.

Today , on the occasion of 200th day of my Project 395 I am posting the pictures of beautiful Deoria Taal lake... glimpse of which were posted earlier on day 76 and 192. Today's photos are from the beautiful district of Almora, Uttarakhand. Almora is blessed with the beauty of nature and offers very scenic surroundings. Roads pass through pine forests and there are plenty of places with breathtaking views and magnetic attraction.

Here are some more pictures from holy Jageshwar temple (जागेश्वर मंदिर)... The second pic is not exactly a temple of Jageshwar group of temples. However it is situated just a few kilometers before the main Jageshwar temple in the Jageshwar - Almora road.

Haldwani is the largest city of Nainital district in Uttarakhand. It is often considered as gateway of Kumaun. The city is situated near Gaula river. These pictures were taken from Haldwani-Bhimtal road and in the pics, the city of Haldwani and river can be seen in the background.
